Les dimensions des installations varient en fonction de la taille des murs d'exposition.
Depuis son arrivée à New York en 1993, Jean-Pierre Sergent présente son travail sur Plexiglas de façon monumentale grâce à de grandes installations murales. Les formats unitaires carrés de ses peintures de dimension 105 x 105 cm, sont assemblés côte à côte pour former un ensemble cohérent de dimension modulable pouvant faire jusqu'à 80 m2 pour sa derrière installation au Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie de Besançon.
